Escape rooms are the latest fun activity to do with friends and family. You can choose to play them online (alone or in a group), or you can head to an actual escape room. If you have never been to an escape room or played the game online before, it could be tricky to win the game. If you follow a few tips, however, you could be a pro in no time.
Here are some tips to follow for solving puzzle escape rooms for beginners.
Search The Entire Room Carefully
You will find out the backstory of the room before you enter it, so keep that in mind as you search for your clues. There will be clues hidden everywhere, and you only have one hour to escape the room. If you have a team at a physical escape room, have everyone look at different areas to search for clues; don't check the same places at once.
Also, begin working on your puzzles right away. An hour might seem like a long time, but it can go by fast, and there is more than one puzzle to solve.
Work Together With Everyone
It's important to work together with everyone in the room with you. The same is true for both online games that you play and those you play in a physical room. Since you have limited time to solve the puzzles and get the keys to escape, you will need everyone to work together.
When you find a clue, tell everyone else in the room what you found. You could organize one or two to work on the same puzzle and, if you get stuck, have the others help you out.
Keys only work for one puzzle and nowhere else in the room, so once you have solved it and gotten that key, discard it and move on.
Ask For Hints Early
You can actually ask for hints in a puzzle escape room, as some rooms may be harder to solve than others. The room designer or those working there will give you hints on how to solve the puzzles to get your key. The staff wants you to enjoy your experience and have a good chance at escaping, so they will give you help to complete the room.
Asking for hints early enough in the game instead of waiting until time is running out will help you solve the puzzle room on time.
